Volunteer With Us

Volunteering with 4-H is fun and rewarding. Whether you're sharing your time and talents by leading a project or by serving on a committee, as a volunteer you'll be a valued member of our club. Without volunteers we couldn't have programs and without programs we wouldn't have 4-H. With Wilton 4-H YOU can be the change, make a difference and inspire kids to do!

Process to become a new Wilton 4-H Volunteer

The safety of all youth and adults is our top priority. To ensure volunteers are qualified, understand, and are prepared for their positions, the Sacramento County Extension office requires the following steps to becoming a 4-H volunteer.

Step 1

Connect with a Wilton 4-H club leader to let them know you're interested in volunteering and to what capacity you'd like to serve. Not all volunteer positions require large commitments and at Wilton 4-H we understand the busy lives of our 4-H families.

Step 2

Complete the Volunteer Interest Survey. This allows the county office to send you pertinent links and information regarding orientation and training.

Step 3

Enroll as a 4-H Adult Volunteer within the online enrollment system. New volunteers will need to create a profile and enroll in our 4-H ZSuite system. The email you use to enroll is the email that communication will be sent to.

Step 4

Pay the annual Adult Enrollment Fee. This is not connected to the 4-H ZSuite system which is why it's a separate step.

Step 5

Complete the CA DOJ Fingerprint Live Scan. An important part of providing a safe environment is to conduct background checks on our volunteers and staff. Everyone that will be spending an extended time with our 4-H youth is screened. Print the form below and take it with you to the Live Scan location.

Step 6

Complete In-Person Volunteer Orientation. You must complete this orientation at the county office as part of your New Volunteer training and before you can be approved as a volunteer. Orientation is typically offered in the fall of each club year. Click the button below to view upcoming orientation dates and to RSVP. Dinner is typically served and the orientation is fun for new volunteers.

Step 7

Complete Online CA New Volunteer eXtension Training modules. You will need to create a New Log-in. Please email the Wilton 4-H club leader for the course code.

Step 8

Receive County Director Approval. 4-H volunteer appointments are reviewed and approved by the County Director after:

• You have completed all the above steps
• You have passed the screening process

*Please note, you can not volunteer until you have been activated in the system.

Email us once you've completed all the steps and to follow up on your status.
