About Wilton 4-H

Wilton 4-H Club, located in Sacramento County, is supported by The University of California, a land grant university. Wilton 4-H club nurtures leadership, helps youth develop confidence, builds important life skills, and empowers youth to make a difference in their lives and their community.

Community Club Meetings

Club meetings are typically on the second Thursday of every month from September through May. Each month members will attend the Club Meeting in Wilton. This meeting is where all Wilton 4-H youth members meet together to conduct club business, listen to speakers or educational presentations, and have social time; we typically provide a light dinner or hearty snack. This is a monthly meeting separate from your project meetings. Attending at least five club meetings is relevant to remaining a member in good standing.

At each Community Club meeting you should remember to:

  • sign in when you arrive (before the meeting begins)

  • wear club or project Spirit Wear

  • learn the 4-H Pledge and be ready to recite it together

  • sit with other kids to get to know everyone

  • participate

  • ask questions

  • have fun

Project Meetings

Youth members will sign-up to participate in specific projects within Wilton 4-H beginning in September. Some projects meet monthly, some meet seasonally or for a set number of meetings within the club year. Project sign-ups typically take place at the first club meeting in September.

Each year we offer a variety of different projects based on member interest and volunteer commitments. If you are interested in leading a project or you have a project suggestion then please reach out to the Wilton club leaders to discuss the possibilities.

Members also have the opportunity to participate in projects offered in other Sacramento County 4-H Clubs, such as projects not offered in Wilton 4-H. If you're interested in participating in another Club's project, then please reach out to that project leader to discuss participation details and to get clearance.

FAQ's

Lots of families beginning their 4-H journey have lots of questions about 4-H. Check out our FAQ page.

4-H Uniform

The California 4-H uniform is made up of the following garments:

  1. Official green uniform 4-H hat branded with the University of California, Agriculture and Natural Resources (UC ANR) and the 4-H clover logo mark. We are the only state to have a 4-H uniform hat. Many members display their achievement pins on their hats. A 4-H hat is NOT required for membership in the California 4-H Youth Development Program or for participation in any 4-H activity, event, or occasion.

  2. A plain white shirt with a collar. Any length of sleeve, including sleeveless is acceptable.

  3. Members have a choice of bottoms, appropriate to the event or activity, as specified in the California 4-H Dress Guidelines.

  4. OPTIONAL: A traditional 4-H tie or scarf worn with the collared white shirt. The tie and scarf are both worn under the collar. Any member can wear either the scarf or the tie--whatever the member is most comfortable wearing.

  5. Alternate Casual Uniform: For casual events, members may wear their club or county 4-H branded shirt without the uniform hat. Club and county 4-H shirts must properly display the 4-H emblem according to the California 4-H Branding Toolkit.

The 4-H uniform guidelines follow the protocols in the California 4-H Dress Guidelines that apply to all 4-H members.
