The 4-H Horse project is part of the animal science education program. The program will teach you how to care, train, and ride horses. Learn the basic principles of animal science by owning or leasing, feeding, managing, training, and keeping records on the horse. Demonstrate knowledge about horse breeds and characteristics, health and safety, riding and showmanship skills, and using correct equipment. Appreciate riding as a recreation and promote animal well-being through humane treatment.

The 4-H horse and pony project can provide youth with the opportunity to learn about care, selection, health and careers in the equine industry. Love horses? Then this project is for you! You will have the opportunity to learn, handle, care for and ride horses.

4-H members participate by learning about horses and can participate in judging contests, quiz bowl, hippology, and give presentations. Horseless horse members may volunteer to assist with horse shows and trail rides.
